Former DEA Spokesperson: Marijuana is ‘Cash Cow’ and ‘We Will Never Give Up’
As cannabis prohibition crumbles, we have increasingly become privy to some of the less than pure motivations and tactics of the drug warriors. This can lead to a variety of emotions from the satisfaction and vindication that comes with learning the truth, to anger and frustration at the depths of depravity and hypocrisy. Here’s a story that pushes all of those buttons.
Belita Nelson was once the DEA’s chief spokesperson. She ultimately left the agency as a result of her frustration and disgust with the continued prohibition of cannabis and the resulting devastation it has wrought on so many individuals and families.
According to Nelson, the DEA considered marijuana a “cash cow” that it would “never give up,” regardless of the consequences.
“They forgot to get me to sign a confidentiality agreement — and boy did I know the dirt,” Nelson said during a presentation in Denver. Hopefully she will disclose more of it.
