Polls for Marijuana Measures Tight Heading into Election Day
Tomorrow might be the most significant Election Day yet for cannabis legalization. With rec on the ballot in five states and medical in four others, we could wake up on November 9 with more than 25% of our nation’s population living in a jurisdiction where cannabis is legal for both medical and recreational use.
Marijuana Business Daily looked at the polling in all nine states over the month of October and found cause for cautious optimism.
As the chart above shows, legal cannabis is at least a 50-50 proposition in four of the five rec states, with 48% in favor in Arizona. In California, the biggest prize on the table this year, Prop 64 is showing a comfortable lead heading into tomorrow’s election. With the sixth biggest economy in the world, California’s medical market is larger than all existing rec markets combined. Its rec market will be larger by orders of magnitude.
On the medical side, Florida (where we must win 60% or better) looks solid. The polling isn’t great in the other states, but victory remains a strong possibility in each. States like Arkansas and North Dakota are far from being cannabis strongholds, so just getting on the ballot in some of these places is significant.
Pure Green would like to thank all of the activists who have worked so hard to advance the cause of legalization, along with everyone who has voted to help move our community and our industry forward.
