All Five Recreational Cannabis Ballot Measures Leading the Polls
Recreational cannabis is on the ballot in five states this fall (California, Arizona, Nevada, Maine and Massachusetts). According to the Cannabist, with less than a month until election day, the weed is winning in all five states. With polls ranging from just over 50% supporting Arizona’s initiative to 60% support in California, things are looking up for cannabis legalization.
Before we all start popping the champagne, let’s remember that with a month to go, anything can happen and victory is far from assured. If you live in one of these five states (and even if you don’t), you can still contribute financially to the campaigns or volunteer your time.
It would be hard to overemphasize the importance of this election. If we win in all five states, more than 25% of the U.S. population will live in a state where cannabis is legal for medical and recreational use. If this isn’t the tipping point for movement at the federal level it will certainly bring us much, much closer. So write a check, donate your time and for the love of God, please vote for these initiatives if you live where that’s an option.
