Marijuana is the New Normal
“What do you do for a living?”
I have been a cannabis grower for more than twenty years and until recently, I used to dread this question more than any other. Because cannabis remained illegal, I ussually had to lie when asked that question, no matter how badly I wanted to answer honestly. My how times have changed!
Medical cannabis is legal in 24 states and recreational use is now legal in four states plus the District of Columbia. I talk to people every day who tell me that they used to be against legalizing marijuana for medical or recreational purposes. Now someone they love is in less pain because of marijuana or they have come to see it as less harmful than alcohol. These people no longer believe the prohibitionist propaganda. They support legalization.
Marijuana is all over the news, and not because people are getting arrested. I see articles every day about the many ways medical cannabis can help sick adults and children. I see daily updates from the various states making new rules and implementing new cannabis programs. Yesterday was Black Friday, a day of consumerism in America and throughout the world. The Daily Beast ran an article not about the dangers of cannabis, but about how cannabis retailers have started promoting Green Friday instead.
Yes, marijuana is the new normal and I, for one, am thrilled. I look forward to more open discussions, more positive press and more mainstream acceptance of this amazing plant. I can’t wait to see more and more people use cannabis to heal their bodies, minds and souls.
