Veterans May Gain Easier Access To Medical Marijuana
Qualifying veterans soon may find it easier to obtain medical marijuana. The Veterans Equal Access Act, introduced Thursday by Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) with 10 bipartisan cosponsors, would allow Veteran’s Administration doctors in medical marijuana states to prescribe or recommend it to their patients. For most veterans, their VA doctor is their primary care physician. Many cannot afford to see other doctors to get a medical marijuana recommendation.
This development comes as we see mounting evidence that cannabis can help treat PTSD, a condition from which many veterans suffer. Oregon recently added it to the list of conditions that qualify an individual for medical marijuana.
At Pure Green, we support the right of anyone who needs this medicine to obtain it safely and to use it effectively. Kudos to Rep. Blumenauer, our Congressman here in Portland, for supporting this legislation. If you or someone you know suffers from PTSD, call or stop in today and we can help you find some relief.
