Medical Marijuana Research Hits Wall of U.S. Law
Despite the increasing prevalence of state and local medical marijuana laws (more than 30 states plus the District of Columbia allow at least some form of medical marijuana), the federal government continues to block a great deal of medical marijuana research. As the New York Times reports, marijuana remains a Schedule 1 drug, which means researchers hoping to study medical marijuana must obtain permission from the Food and Drug Administration, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the National Institute on Drug Abuse, as well as the Public Health Service. At Pure Green we believe strongly that only through research and education can we unlock the full potential of the cannabis plant. To learn more, visit Pure Green or attend our Marijuana is Medicine Lecture, Saturday August 16 at 2 pm at the Hollywood Branch of the Multnomah Public Library.
